Hey there! I’m Laura, a lifelong animal lover, Primary Care Paramedic, wife & mom, and now, a proud Maine Coon breeder based just north of Calgary, Alberta.
While Top Shelf Maine Coons is a newer cattery, we are known for our small barrel racing program, featuring MP Hot Hayday ( now passed away) and Aftermath Lane (by The Goodbye Lane x Sign Of Passion lte $150k+) Our background has grounded my emphasis on health, disposition, longevity, and handling difficult situations when they arise (and they absolutely do!) — I carry that same mindset into my Maine Coon program. I believe that one thing that sets breeders apart, is how they handle the hard stuff.
But OMG I Love Maine Coons! When I fell in love with this breed — their intelligence, their gentleness, their sheer size and personality — I knew I wanted to build something that would contribute to the breed and to their owners. Top Shelf Maine Coons was created with intention: to offer kittens strategically raised in a clean, enriched home environment, with quality, health, and support at the core of everything I do.
From the beginning, I’ve focused on doing this the right way — investing DNA testing for over 50 health markers, hips clear, and cardiac EKGs of our breeding parents. Our TICA registered cattery is small on purpose so each kitten gets hands-on time and attention. Every kitten is raised inside my home — never cages, no shortcuts.
It feels so weird talking about myself 🙂 but if you are still curious….read on!
As a busy Primary Care Paramedic for nearly two decades, I’ve seen the joy, healing, and connection animals can bring to people’s lives. That perspective shapes how I approach with my cattery. These kittens aren’t just pets — they’re companions and family members — and I take that seriously.
Whether you’re in Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer, or anywhere across Alberta or Canada and the United States, my goal is simple: raise happy, healthy kittens, and match them with the right homes. If you’re just starting your search or have questions about what to expect, I’m always happy to chat and share what I’ve learned along the way.
Thanks for stopping by — I’m glad you’re here.
